Helping People Age With Independence, Confidence, and Dignity

About Me

Who We Are and What We’re About

Hi, My name is David, and for the last 30 years I’ve worked in healthcare and rehabilitation, supporting individuals and families through illness, injury, recovery, and aging.

Throughout my career as an occupational therapist and rehab manager, I’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming healthcare decisions can feel. Especially when independence, safety, and quality of life are at stake.

I’ve worked closely with patients striving to regain function and independence, families advocating for loved ones, and caregivers navigating the emotional and physical demands of caring for someone they love.

Time and again, I’ve seen how access to clear information, practical strategies, and compassionate guidance can make a meaningful difference.

Currently, I am the rehab manager for a large hospital acute care department. My team and I see the dynamics of the rapidly changing healthcare landscape and the impact this has on patients and families.

I also help my own parents navigate the impacts of aging. I’ve helped them recover after multiple major surgeries or heal after a fall and I do this from almost 300 miles away.

It was difficult for me, being on the other side of healthcare as a caregiver. But it helped me bridge the gap between what healthcare providers know and what patients and families actually need.

By becoming a caregiver, I gained valuable insight into how I can better serve the patients and families that I work with everyday.

Wise Well & Thrive grew from this experience. It’s a place to share what I’ve learned, not just clinically, but “humanly” about aging well, aging in place, and supporting caregivers.

My goal is to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and everyday living by offering guidance that is evidence-based, actionable, practical, and rooted in respect for each individual.

Why Trust Wise Well & Thrive

We are unlike many aging wellness websites written by marketers or general writers. The guidance shared here comes from the perspective of a licensed Occupational Therapist who has spent a 30 year career helping people regain independence after illness, injury, and surgery.

Through years of clinical practice, I have worked directly with:
• Older adults recovering from illness or injury
• Families navigating complex healthcare decisions
• Patients preparing to return home safely after hospitalization
• Caregivers

Over the course of my career, I have studied geriatric care with a focus on acute care OT, home safety, fall prevention, caregiver education, and home modifications. I am currently in the process of obtaining my board certification in gerontology. I am committed to this work.

What you will find using Wise Well & Thrive is information and tools that are:
• Evidence-based
• Practical and realistic
• Focused on independence and dignity
• Designed for real life at home
